Radiance

Next on Sixth - Koreatown, Los Angeles, California

Radiance serves as the focal point of an elevated courtyard within a new mixed-use residential development in Koreatown, Los Angeles. Rooted in the rich cultural heritage of the neighborhood, the sculpture draws inspiration from traditional Korean fan art, symbols historically associated with grace, celebration, and the movement of air and light. Reimagined through a contemporary lens, the form captures the spirit of harmony and renewal that defines both Korean artistic traditions and the diverse cultural fabric of Los Angeles.

Its vibrant palette evokes the glowing warmth of LA’s sunsets, bridging local landscape and cultural expression. The sculpture’s layered transparency and reflective surfaces invite shifting perceptions as light and shadow move through the courtyard, creating a sense of motion and connection between residents, visitors, and the environment. In this way, Radiance becomes not only a visual landmark but also a gesture of cultural resonance, honoring heritage and the universal language of light.
